A retired professional chef, Myretta Taylor loves to cook. So when it came time for Myretta and her husband, Glenn, to move, it’s no surprise that a chef’s kitchen was among the must-have features they were looking for in a new home.
After living in Libertyville for just over 35 years, the couple found a new home that meets all of their needs – and they found it right here at Kelmscott Park. We sat down with the Taylors to learn more about their upcoming move to Lake Forest’s newest residential community.
1. What were your motivations for moving?
Now that we are empty nesters, we were ready to downsize and were drawn to the idea of maintenance free living. That’s what ultimately led us to Kelmscott Park.
2. During your home search, what were the must-have features and amenities on your list?
We were looking for a home with a first-floor master bedroom, wine storage and a chef’s kitchen. The option to have 9-foot ceiling heights in the lower level was also very appealing.
3. How did you first learn about Kelmscott Park?
We first learned about the community when we were out for a Sunday drive. We spotted the sales trailer for Kelmscott Park and decided to stop in and take a look.
4. What made you decide to buy a home at Kelmscott Park?
Kelmscott Park meets all of our needs, from the first-floor master bedroom to the maintenance-free lifestyle. We also love the location because it’s within walking distance of an assortment of great stores and restaurants in downtown Lake Forest.
5. Which residence/floor plan did you choose and why?
We selected the “Morris” single-family floor plan before there was a model. It’s the perfect fit for our lifestyle because it has everything we were looking for in a new home, including the square footage.
6. What are you looking forward to most about living at Kelmscott Park?
In addition to our new home, we are excited about being so close to the lake and the shops and restaurants in the area – many of which are within walking or biking distance.
7. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Traveling, golfing, reading and container gardening are a few of our favorite shared activities and hobbies. I also enjoy cooking for nonprofit organizations and my grandchildren, who live in San Diego.
